Housing and Transport
We have a longstanding interest in how the quality and experience of different forms of housing and transport may influence health and the ability to lead a healthy life.
Through our early work, funded under the Health Variations programme, we explored the extent to which housing tenure and household car access exposed individuals to more health damaging or health promoting conditions. We have recently updated this work (THAW 2010 website).
In our Scotland wide APOLLO project funded under the National Prevention Research Initiative, we have examined how different forms of transport may promote access to physical activity opportunities (see Lamb et al. 2012, Ogilvie et al. 2011).
