Public talk: 'Public Health and the Media' at the Edinburgh Science Festival 2011

Dr Shona Hilton was invited to give a public talk at the Edinburgh International Science Festival and Edinburgh Fringe Festival.  The talk aimed to illustrate the media’s influence on public health by drawing on research examining newspaper coverage and public understanding of topical health issues including: the swine flu pandemic, HPV vaccination and the impact of reports about celebrity illness on health behaviours for example Jade Goody and Kylie Minogue’s cancer experiences.
