Biography and Interests

Sheela graduated with a First Class BA (Hons) degree in Media and Women’s Studies from City University of New York in 2007. She completed her MRes degree from the University of Dundee in 2014. Her MRes project focused on exploring the determinants of parental intentions to provide their children with healthy diet.

Sheela worked at the University of Dundee as a Research Support Officer for four years and was involved in various health research projects including an evidence review by the General Dental Council.

Before moving to Scotland in 2009, she worked at Rockefeller University and ABC News in New York.
Sheela joined the Gender and Health team as a PhD student in 2014. Her PhD project will investigate how men’s attempts to manage weight through changes in physical activity and dietary behaviour influence and are influenced by their female partners.

Sheela is supervised by Dr. Alice Maclean, Dr. Helen Sweeting and Dr Stephanie Chambers.
