Biography and Interests

Having previously worked at a large international school in China for 3 years, Ian joined the unit in September 2015. He completed his undergraduate – BA (Hons) Community Education – at Edinburgh University and recently completed an Mres in education and Social research at the Institute of Education, University College London.

His PhD topic is investigating the role of sport in reducing youth recidivism rates; in doing so, he will be working in partnership with the Everton in the Community Foundation. The project is under the supervision of Dr. Mathew Maycock and Professor Kate Hunt. His research interests are related to youth offending and participatory and visual qualitative methodologies.
